You can direct, shoot, score, edit and publish a short film alone. The constraint is no longer budget — it is whether you can direct rather than merely generate. This page is the working pipeline.
The pipeline
Write and shot-list
Logline, three-act beats, then a shot list with camera move, duration and the emotional job of each shot. Never generate before the shot list exists.
Lock the look
Three reference stills, a character sheet per character, and one sentence of style language pasted unchanged into every prompt. Consistency is won here, not in post.
Generate stills, then animate them
Image-to-video gives far more control than text-to-video because you have already approved the frame.
Shoot in three-to-eight second shots
Longer generations drift. Expect to keep roughly one in five. That ratio is normal.
Build the sound
Dialogue, score generated to your cut length, and room tone under everything. Sound is where amateur AI films give themselves away.
Cut and grade
A single grade across every shot hides an enormous amount of model variation. Upscale last.

Formats that pay
- Short films and proof-of-concept trailers — the calling card that gets you hired to do it for someone else.
- Music videos — the most forgiving format for generated video, because surrealism is a feature.
- Explainer and training video — avatar-led, translated into ten languages, updated by editing text. Real business demand, immediately.
- Ad creative at volume — forty variants tested rather than four. See ads and marketing.
- Faceless channels — sustainable only with a genuine editorial angle. Generic ones get filtered.
Before you publish commercially
Read the licence terms of every tool in your chain, check platform disclosure rules for synthetic media, and never generate a real person\’s likeness or voice without written permission. This area is moving fast and the penalties are not theoretical.
